Only four or five years ago, there were almost no CBD dispensaries in sight across the United States. The stigma attached to marijuana and THC kept the CBD industry at bay. People were apprehensive to even learn about the benefits of the natural miracle treatment, and it was probably a result of decades of government regulation and propaganda that prohibited them from being able to differentiate between this non-psychoactive substance and its munchie inducing cohabitant. However, with time, and likely as a result of relaxed views on the cannabis plant, CBD dispensaries have begun springing up all over the place. In fact, you can barely drive a few miles in any direction without seeing one around every town and city in America.
So, what changed? How is it that something so taboo and forbidden was able to sweep the nation and basically create a craze rarely seen in our long history, with almost countless CBD dispensaries in existence today? Well, the reasons are more obvious than one might imagine.
For starters, it is becoming more apparent to members of our society that we are overly dependent on the healthcare and pharmaceutical industry to treat our ailments. If you take a further step back, you can easily see that our awareness of our health, from the food we put into our bodies, to the medicines we take to treat our illnesses has increased substantially. Additionally, with the proliferation of social media, we communicate in ways beyond the wildest dreams of generations before us.
A prime example of this can be seen in our senior citizen population. I for one, notice a stark contrast between the number of prescription medications contained within my grandparent’s medicine cabinet, versus the number of prescription meds my parents take on a daily basis. As you follow the totem pole down to the younger generations, you notice that millennials are almost reluctant to inquire about prescription treatments and are more likely to seek out natural remedies and incorporate preventative methods into their lives.
CBD has been shown to alleviate numerous ailments, ranging from arthritis pain, to insomnia, and even anxiety. So, it is no wonder that we are seeing a boom in the amount of CBD dispensaries that are opening month after month. If you are in any way doubtful about a sea change in the American perspective, all you have to do is look at all of the news stories referencing the countless lawsuits against the major pharmaceutical companies, and the broken trust between them and their customers. CBD dispensaries are here to stay.
